Can you use a VOIP system with a freeze alarm or security system?

  • There are two things to be careful of when looking into a VOIP system.  The first thing you need to check is that the system can use a standard landline phone. Some systems use digital phones which will make them incompatible with a freeze alarm or security system.
  • The second item you need to be aware of is that most VOIP systems will go down when you lose power because the modem for the system has lost power.  You will need to see if your provider provides a battery backup for the system, or you can get a battery backup for the system to allow for power outage alerts, and to continue having the system monitor during a power outage.
